Valor FAQ

Questions about the Valor lineup.

Is dual pricing actually legal in my state?

Cash discount and dual-pricing programs are legal in every US state, but specific disclosure requirements (signage, receipt language, surcharge caps) vary. We walk through your state’s rules, configure the terminal to match, and make sure your signage is compliant before you go live. The goal is not just “it works”, it’s that it holds up to a card-brand audit.

Which Valor should I pick if I just want a reliable terminal?

For most small operations running one terminal, the VP100 or VL100 Pro is the default, dependable, simple, priced right. If you want a slightly larger display or mid-tier performance, the VP350 is a good step up. If you want an Android smart-POS experience with apps, start at the VL550 or VP550.

Do I need a separate POS, or can the Valor device do everything?

Countertop Valor terminals (VP100, VL100 Pro, VP350) work as standalones, great for services and small retail that don’t need SKU-level inventory. The Android line (VL550, VP550, VP800) adds inventory, invoicing, and other POS-style features on-device. If you need full multi-terminal POS with menu/inventory sync across devices, Clover or SkyTab is usually a better fit.

What connects to the terminal, Wi-Fi, ethernet, or 4G?

Countertop models run on ethernet or Wi-Fi. Wireless models (VL110) add 4G LTE for mobility and failover. The RCKT mobile reader pairs over Bluetooth to a phone running the ValorPay app, so it uses your phone’s connection.
